Mahendra is a Chartered Accountant having qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. After Some years in professional audit practice in London, Mahendra embarked on an International Banking career spending his tenure with Standard Chartered Bank in India, Australia, the UK, Singapore Dubai, Philippines, and Malaysia and with direct oversight in some roles over Africa, Middle East, and Europe and Americas.

His experience in several senior roles expanded over Finance, Risk, Project Management, Audit, and more laterally as Country CEO. After 2 short stints in Dubai as Chief Operating Officer in Noor Bank and then as Interim Managing Directors for First Merchant Bank Capital Holdings Plc (FMBCH), Mahendra is now Non-Executive Director on the Parent Co Board (FMBCH) and on subsidiary Boards for FCB Zambia and Zimbabwe.
